Patients without dysplasia had recorded their follow-up to the last biopsy. The study variables were: race, gender, age at onset, age at last biopsy and site of disease. The explanatory variables were dichotomized by testing the null hypothesis of distributions of dysplasia-free time time elapsed from disease progression to diagnosis of dysplasia, or to the last biopsy equal in both classifications versus the alternative hypothesis of different distributions of dysplasia-free time.
The statistical test used was considered the Cox-Mantel test. The evaluation of the progression time of the groups with and without dysplasia was performed using the non-parametric Mann—Whitney test. The indefinite cases for dysplasia and those with dysplasia were reviewed with the use of a discriminant classification to characterize dysplasia as atypia or repair.
